It's true that we always want what we do not have / cannot have. In Felicity's case, the thing which she wants most and does not have is long hair.Big sister Mimi has long hair. The funny thing about Mimi is that she asks me at least once a week if her hair is now long enough to cut and donate to Locks Of Love, an organization which collects hair donations and manufactures wigs and hair pieces for those who have lost their hair due to illness or disease. About a year and a half ago, Mimi donated her hair and is excited to do it again.
Mimi is six years old, has long hair, and goes to school. Thus, Felicity wants to be six. She thinks that when she turns six, she will have "arrived". In most cases, Felicity emulates Mimi.
Now I've got to give credit where credit is due: Felicity came up with the "mop hair" idea on her own one day while I was folding laundry. She discovered the mop head within the clean laundry, divided the cloth strips in half, and carefully positioned it on her head. Voila! Long hair!
Thinking she wanted to be part of the fun, and so that her little sister wouldn't be the only one with a common household cleaning tool on her head, Mimi donned one, too.
I am grateful for this moment in my daughters' lives when one chose to join the other instead of making fun of her. I am also grateful that something so simple facilitated hours of entertainment for two of my children. If only it could always be so easy...

So cute that Felicity wants hair so much that she comes up with such creative ways to get it. So sad that Felicity wants hair so bad that she has to come up with such creative ways to get it. Some day it will grow in and she'll probably get tired of having to curl and blow dry it. Life is that way, isn't it? You are right, the grass is always greener...
